Cigarette Smoke Detection Robot in a Smoke-Free Environment

This project aims to develop a robot capable of detecting cigarette smoke in smoke-free environments. The motivation behind the project is the significant health and environmental issues caused by smoking, as highlighted by the World Health Organization (WHO). Smoking not only leads to millions of deaths annually but also incurs substantial healthcare costs and environmental pollution.

The robot is designed to address several problems associated with smoking in restricted areas, such as enforcing regulations, protecting public health, preventing fires, and reducing environmental contamination. The project involves the construction of a robot using components like the Arduino Nano, MQ-2 smoke sensor, Relay, HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor, DC Motor and other electronic parts. The total cost of the materials amounts to approximately ±150.000 IDR.

This technological solution is expected to enhance compliance with smoke-free policies, thereby improving air quality and public safety. The project's documentation includes detailed design schematics, source code, and references to prior work in the field of smoke and fire detection using robotics and remote sensing.
